New Technology Explained
VCM (Voice Coil Motor)
The focusing group in this lens consists of multiple lens elements, and the combined weight would be challenging to move with other types of focusing motors. VCM technology provides the optimum combination of torque, speed and near-silent operation, allowing spontaneous moments to be captured and smooth focus pulls to be achieved when filming.
Lens Function Button
By default, the Lens Function Button works as an AF stop button which temporarily pauses AF during Servo AF, but it can be assigned with a preferred camera function. With the camera set to video mode, for example, the Function Button can operate as a zebra or false colour toggle or set as the video record button.
