Best in class 24-70mm f/2.8 full-frame zoom lens
In a feat of engineering, the NIKKOR Z 24-70mm f/2.8 S II is the first professional 24-70mm lens to pack an internal zoom—and it’s also the lightest lens in its class. Weighing in at a cool 675 g, this super-versatile lens is now more stable and easier to handle thanks to a barrel that doesn’t extend or retract when you change focal lengths.
Versatile, steady, robust
The internal zoom maximises the versatility of this 24-70mm lens beautifully. Weather sealing is robust and fewer moving parts are exposed to the elements, so you can confidently go wherever the story takes you without worrying about your gear. Plus, there’s no weight shift: you can zoom without needing to adjust your grip—and the lens barrel won’t extend and interfere with your close-up shots.
Better handling for video
If you’re shooting with a gimbal, the internal zoom lets you change focal lengths without needing to rebalance the lens. The centre of gravity stays consistent—and your shots stay on point.
Smoother, better-defined bokeh
The new optical design boasts precision crafted aspherical lens elements that shape the light beautifully. Background and foreground bokeh is well defined, and graded so smoothly that you could be forgiven for thinking you shot with a fast prime lens.
Rounded 11-blade aperture
A new 11-blade aperture produces more circular bokeh, while the new S-line optical design ensures point light sources like stars and city lights will be sharp and clear. Coupled with the constant f/2.8 aperture and close focusing prowess of this professional zoom lens, you can shoot cinematic close-ups in any light. Or go for mesmerising low-light nightscapes and landscapes.
It’s not macro, but it gets close
Work with an extremely short minimum focus distance of just 0.24 m at 24mm, and 0.33 m at 70mm. Maximum magnification is 0.21x at 24mm, and 0.32x at 70mm.
