Advanced optical design
Two XA (Extreme Aspherical) lens elements and three aspheric elements minimise distortion, curvature and astigmatism. Two ED (Extra-low Dispersion) glass elements suppress colour distortion, while an advanced nano AR (Anti Reflection) coating on optical surfaces drastically reduces flare and ghosting. The floating focus mechanism is optimised for motion picture applications, ensuring outstanding resolution and very low distortion at any shooting distance.
Precise, responsive manual focus
The SELC1635G features a smooth and silent Linear Response MF drive, to deliver lag-free manual focus for accurate and intuitive DoP (Director of Photography) and camera operator control. The geared focus ring offers a long-throw (120 degree) rotation for fine control, with stops and a clear distance scale for consistent focus pulls and resets during multiple takes. Catering for a range of film-makers, it additionally offers reversible zoom ring rotation and the option to engage aperture click-stops, providing tactile feedback for precise adjustment.
