Nikon HB-48 Lens Hood
The Nikon HB-48 Bayonet Lens Hood is designed for use with the AF-S NIKKOR 70-200mm f/2.8G ED VR II lens. Lens hoods are primarily designed to prevent unwanted stray light from entering the lens by extending and shading the end of the lens. In addition, since the end of the lens is extended you also get the added benefit of some extra protection from accidental impact.
Bayonet lens hood provided with select NIKKOR lenses.
By reducing the amount of non-essential light falling onto the front lens element, lenses can better achieve their optimum optical performance, producing more saturated images.
Use of specifically engineered Nikon lens hoods is highly recommended.
In less-than-ideal lighting conditions, the performance difference can be substantial.
