The LUMIX S9 introduces a new recording format; MP4 Lite. Shooting Open Gate in 4:2:0 10 bit in 30p/25p, creators can capture high quality videos in the optimum format for smartphone, and easily resize aspect ratios to suit social media with the LUMIX Lab app. With this new streamlined editing workflow, content creators can easily shoot and share while on the go.
Panasonic aims to offer a new enjoyable shooting experience to creators with the LUMIX S9, making the journey from capturing the moment to sharing with the world seamless and intuitive. The LUMIX S9 also allows creators to easily enjoy a range of popular, classic or bespoke color styles in-camera with the popular REAL TIME LUT function via a new dedicated ‘LUT’ button on the camera body.
In addition, the new LUMIX Lab app enables creators to develop their own unique LUT color files on their smartphone. This means users can effortlessly generate original and shareable stills and videos without the need of post-production editing on a computer, expanding the scope of creative possibilities. The speed of transferring data from camera to smartphone has also been improved with the new app.

The LUMIX S9 synchronizes the shutter speed with the flicker frequency of the light source, reducing phenomena such as darkening and horizontal lines.
LEICA Monochrome
Leica is well known for its superior picture quality and has a reputation from users all over the world for its outstanding depiction and expressiveness. Through our L2 Technology collaboration, we learned the picture-making philosophy that Leica has built up over its long history and realized this mode as one of the new expressiveness of the LUMIX camera. It features deep contrasts between black and white.

96MP High Resolution Mode
In this mode, consecutive images are automatically shot while shifting the sensor using the Body Image Stabilizer (B.I.S.) mechanism. Then, the high-speed signal processing engine synthesizes the images into a 96-megapixel equivalent (12,000 x 8,000-pixel) file. This allows you to capture magnificent natural scenery and detailed works of art in ultra-high resolution without using a tripod.

5-Axis Body I.S. / 5-Axis Dual I.S. 2
The LUMIX S9 comes equipped with body image stabilization. The 5.0-stop Body I.S. reduces camera shake even in dark surroundings resulting in slower shutter speeds.* At telephoto range, 5-axis Dual I.S. 2, which combines Body I.S. and Lens O.I.S. controls, provides 6.5 stops of image stabilization.
Active I.S. + Advanced E.I.S.
The LUMIX S9 also makes it easy to shoot video on the move. Active I.S. determines the status of camera shake and optimizes correction ratios to compensate even for significant motion, while advanced E.I.S. suppresses perspective distortion that occurs during video shooting. So now you can capture beautiful images, even if you need to move quickly while the camera is rolling.
1840k-dot free-angle monitor
The LUMIX S9 features a free-angle monitor that can be rotated around 180 degrees to the left and right and 270 degrees up and down, enabling you to see the screen clearly at any angle, whether you are shooting mere inches from the ground or stretching up to capture a subject from up high. The monitor can be closed when not in use, reducing the risk of screen damage when carrying the camera around.

- About motion picture recording
- The cards that can be used for recording vary depending on the motion pictures bit rate and format type:
- Motion pictures with 72Mbps or less: SD memory card with SD Speed Class with Class 10 or Video Speed Class 10 or higher
- Motion pictures with 200Mbps or less: SD memory card with UHS-I / UHS-II UHS Speed Class 3 (U3) or Video Speed Class 30 or higher
- Recording stops when the continuous recording time exceeds 10 minutes in [6K] [5.9K].
- Recording stops when the continuous recording time exceeds 15 minutes in [C4K] [4K] [3.8K] [3.3K].
- Recording stops when the continuous recording time exceeds 20 minutes in [FHD].
- A new file will be created to continue recording if the file size exceeds the following conditions:
- [MP4] in [FHD]: 4GB
- [MP4] in [4K]: 96GB
- [MOV]: 192GB
- The cards that can be used for recording vary depending on the motion pictures bit rate and format type:
- About AF
- Automatic Detection is not available for High Frame Rate video shooting above 60p (100p or 120p).
- Tracking and Automatic Detection are not available when using HDMI cable or USB connection cable for High Frame Rate video shooting (100p or 120p) above 60p.
- To output motion pictures with 4K or higher, use a Premium High Speed HDMI cable (Type A - Type A plug).
