The all-new Z6III introduces a new level of performance to mid-range full-frame cameras and is an exciting upgrade for photographers and videographers who want to hone their skills or go big on creativity, while keeping their setup ultra-compact. At the heart of the camera is the world's first partially stacked full-frame CMOS sensor—designed to let the Z6III perform big and stay small, it delivers in every way with incredible image quality and eye-widening dynamic range and colour fidelity.

  • 24.5 MP
  • 6K RAW video
  • Flagship power
  • Bright, hi-res EVF
  • Up to 120 fps

The partially stacked sensor at the heart of the Z6III is backed by the same EXPEED 7 processor that drives the Z8 and Z9—and this powerful duo fuel the camera's blazing AF calculations and EVF refresh rates, as well as its impressive light sensitivity. Stills shooters get a consistently smooth view through the viewfinder and can unleash up to 120 fps without worrying about rolling shutter distortion. Video shooters can deliver pristine 6K and 5.4K footage straight from the camera or create detail-rich 4K UHD video oversampled from 6K in-camera.

Keep on stepping up with the Z6III creative powerhouse! Exquisitely detailed 24.5 MP stills, 6K RAW video in-camera, a bright high-res EVF, 120 fps burst speeds, and precision AF features inherited from the Z8 and Z9. Combined with the flexibility of Z system lenses, this small full-frame camera is born to fuel your momentum.

Hi-res EVF with ultra-wide colour gamut

Immerse in your creative zone with the bright, ultra-high-resolution EVF that gives you a fluid high-definition view, and an extra-wide colour space for more accurate colour. It’s the difference between landing a good image—and creating a great one.

New levels of clarity

With a refresh rate of 60 fps, the 5760k-dot EVF displays a consistently smooth, full-resolution view during shooting and playback. Sharpness is incredible throughout the frame, making it easier to confirm focus, and there’s no jolting or drops in resolution when shooting at high frame rates.

Bright, HDR display

Shooting scenes with bright sun and deep shade? The high-luminance (4000 nits) EVF provides excellent visibility and dynamic range in high-contrast situations. Even on the brightest day, details like facial features or background elements won’t be hidden in shadows, so you can frame your shot perfectly.

Eye opening colour

The Z6III is the first mirrorless camera ever to have an EVF with a wide DCI-P3 colour gamut! You’ll see more lifelike colours with no colour banding, which helps immensely when making critical decisions. HEIF and JPEG files straight from the camera will look the way you intended.

World’s first partially stacked CMOS sensor*

The partially stacked sensor of the Z6III is so much more than the sum of its 24.5 megapixels. It’s designed to let this full-frame camera think big and stay compact––and it delivers in every way.

Backed by the power of EXPEED 7, this partially stacked full-frame CMOS sensor delivers incredible image quality with eye-widening dynamic range and colour fidelity. Phenomenal sensor scan speeds and ultra-fast data readout fuel blazing AF calculations on a level with the Z8 and Z9, counter rolling shutter distortion, and enable EVF refresh rates of 60 fps during continuous shooting at 20 fps.

Creating portraits? Intelligent noise reduction means remarkably detailed JPEG and HEIF files even if shooting at high ISOs. Photographing fast-moving wildlife? Your view on the action is fluid, your images will be superb.

Flagship AF features you can trust. Always.

However they move, the Z6III mirrorless camera sticks to your subject like glue. Flagship autofocus features bring you consistently reliable subject acquisition and tracking that won’t let go—even in the dark.

Blisteringly fast AF calculations on a par with the Z8 and Z9 allow remarkable precision at high-speed frame rates, while deep-learning technology powers impressive subject detection in Auto-Area AF and Manual Focus, or when using Auto Capture. There are also dedicated subject detection modes for people and animals: tracking on the eyes is incredible, even if your subject is extremely small in the frame.

If you’re shooting as daylight fades, before the sun rises, or at night, AF sensitivity down to –10 EV** means you can keep shooting longer. If you’re out in bright conditions, dedicated AF pixels on the camera’s sensor keep faces in focus even if they’re in shadow or backlit.

If you’re using a shallow depth of field to shoot still subjects, or interior or landscape details, Pinpoint AF offers a very small, very precise AF point. You can define the exact point of focus on even the most delicate elements of your composition.

**AF sensitivity down to –10 EV. Measured in photo mode at ISO 100 and a temperature of 20°C/68°F using single-servo AF (AF‑S) and a lens with a maximum aperture of f/1.2.

Backed by a brilliant lens system

Ignite your creativity. The possibilities for what you can create in-camera with the Z6III and a NIKKOR Z lens are endless.

For wildlife and action enthusiasts, S-line super-telephoto lenses will let you comfortably shoot handheld—with all the sharpness and beautiful bokeh only an S-line prime lens can deliver. The NIKKOR Z 600mm f/6.3 VR S and the NIKKOR Z 400mm f/4.5 VR S are both incredibly lightweight: combined with the Z6III’s powerful in-camera Vibration Reduction image stabilisation, you’ll be able to leave the tripod or monopod at home.

For portraits and fine art, Nikon’s coveted range of fast S-line prime lenses lets you portray subjects in bold new ways. The exquisite NIKKOR Z 135mm f/1.8 S Plena delivers perfectly circular background and foreground bokeh. Breathtaking clarity, sharpness, and bokeh are also features of the NIKKOR Z 50mm f/1.2 S and NIKKOR Z 85mm f/1.2 S lenses, both of which are as exciting for video as for stills.

For creativity that doesn’t stop, Nikon’s beautifully affordable trio of S-line f/2.8 zoom lenses and wide range of S-line f/1.8 prime lenses all offer stunning low-light performance. All NIKKOR Z lenses boast similar layout and controls, making them easy to pick up and use straight away, and selected Z lenses offer linear focusing for video shooters. You can also use the (optional) MC-N10 remote grip to make clickless focus adjustments while you record.

Nikon’s renowned ergonomics and customization

Responsiveness you can feel. A control layout so well thought out, you won’t have to think. The Z6III full-frame mirrorless camera just gets out of your way, and lets you get on with making images.

Customisation inherited from the Nikon Z8 and Z9 cameras includes the ability to assign different AF-area modes to custom buttons: you’ll be able to switch AF modes quickly, whenever the situation asks for it. For viewfinder shooting, Touch FN lets you assign different functions—including focus point—to the high-resolution vari-angle touchscreen. With your eye to the viewfinder, you can move the focus point quickly and easily with a flick of your thumb.

If you like auditory confirmation while shooting, the Z6III is happy to oblige with simulated shutter sounds that confirm shots are being taken, even if the mechanical shutter is disengaged. You can choose from five custom shutter sounds, including those inspired by classic Nikon DSLRs, film cameras, and rangefinders.

There are separate display interfaces for stills and video. Plus, the Z6III’s streamlined body still has space for two card slots—giving you options when it comes to shooting and storage. One slot supports high-performance CFexpress Type B cards or XQD cards, and one slot supports UHS-II SD cards.

A tough build for all your creative journeys

Small yet tough. Perfectly light yet incredibly durable. Weighing just 750 g, the Z6III full-frame camera is born to travel and engineered to embrace the elements.

Both body and battery function in temperatures as cold as –10 C/14 F, which makes trekking into wintry locations in search of the perfect wildlife shot entirely possible. You can put rainy and dusty environments on your travel itinerary too: premium weather sealing protects the camera and its MB-N14 battery grip.

Knocks and bumps won’t worry the Z6III. When the camera is powered off, a VR lock activates to prevent accidental damage to the sensor. Plus, the magnesium-alloy front cover keeps the camera light while also being incredibly resistant to impact.

It isn’t just the front of this full-frame mirrorless camera that’s got your back. The top and back plates are manufactured from lightweight Sereeboã P Series carbon fibre—a high-performance, high-strength injection-moulded material with the same structural strength as magnesium.

Ultimate Adaptability

If your heart lies with an F-mount lens, the Mount Adapter FTZ II (sold separately) lets you use approximately 360 classic Nikon lenses with no loss of image quality. The adapter itself is fully weather sealed and its streamlined design enables comfortable shooting in any orientation, making it the perfect bridge to the compact Z6III full-frame mirrorless camera.

Discover the Z6III for Video

Born to power creativity. Designed to enhance productivity. The Z6III full-frame camera will become part of how you move and flow as a filmmaker. Discover a freedom your talent will respond to. Straight away.

Acclaimed 3D-tracking

With 3D tracking, it couldn’t be easier to follow unpredictable, fast-moving subjects. The Z6III stays locked on, even if your subject is extremely small in the frame.

Subject detection to rely on

Just like the Z8 and Z9, the Z6III can detect and track people, cats, dogs, birds, bicycles, motorbikes, cars, aircraft, and trains. You can use subject detection when focusing man...

Blink and you won’t miss

Go all out with an incredible 120 fps and Pre-Release Capture. You’ll nail the decisive moment, even if it happened before you released the shutter.

Own the art of movement

Don’t let its size fool you—the partially stacked 24.5 MP sensor of the Z6III delivers a performance that easily outpaces the Z6II. You can unleash 120 fps (10 MP DX-format JPEGs), or 60 fps (24 MP full-frame JPEGs) without worrying about rolling shutter distortion. Full pixel readout maintains dynamic range, so you can even crop in without compromising image detail.

8.0-stop VR with focus-point stabilization

An incredible 8.0 stops of in-camera image stabilisation gives you the freedom to nail super-sharp handheld shots, even at night. If you’re using a NIKKOR Z lens without built-in VR, Focus Point VR will stabilise the area around the active focus point no matter where it is in the frame: it’s a game changer for creative wide-angle compositions.

Focus in the dark with AF down to –10 EV

From opportunistic shots to creative decisions about location, the Z6III opens up where—and when—you can create. Low-light AF down to –10 EV lets the camera detect faces and eyes in the dark: you won’t even need the light of the new moon to shoot by. And for night shoots without a tripod, the native ISO range goes from 100 all the way up to 64000 (expandable to 50-204800).

Go for mesmerising with Pixel Shift

If you’ve always wanted to explore ultra-high-resolution photography, now’s your chance! Activate Pixel Shift on the Z6III and you can merge multiple RAW files into one 96-megapixel image with spectacular colour and low noise. Shooting still subjects with the camera on a tripod will give you the best results. Simply use Nikon’s free NX Studio software to combine the files.

Flexible portrait controls
